Not a bad result for North Korea, despite the loss. I was crossing my fingers for the Koreans the entire game, but I'm pleased with their performance. Their first World Cup in 44 years, against the 5-time champions, and they were narrowly defeated. Sure, Brazil was on top of them most of the game, but North Korea did have more offense than other teams.
Brazil's first goal was more bad luck for the keeper than a mistake. Many keepers will edge away from the post to block a cross, and unfortunately for the keeper, Maicon thought to be sneaky and placed the ball well.
I was also pleased with New Zealand's tie with Slovakia. The Kiwis and the North Koreans had been pegged as having the opportunity to make the worst World Cup appearance in history. With New Zealand's point and North Korea's narrow defeat to Brazil, I think it's safe to say they'll both have something to be proud of after the World Cup.
